UK Genealogist Lady Teviot
Yarra Plenty Regional Library is looking forward to hosting UK Genealogist Lady Mary Teviot in various branches later this month.
Lady Teviot’s experience in Family History Research extends over thirty five years and she has lectured internationally for over a decade.
She has been the President of the UK Federation of Family History Societies since 2001 and has held other roles in various family history groups.
Lady Teviot specialises in Probate Research and can be seen on Foxtel’s Lifestyle channel’s “Heir Hunters”.
Lady Teviot is looking forward to a return trip to Australia and Melbourne’s north and inspiring people to explore their family history. Her talks will be of particular interest to family history researchers with UK heritage.

Kill or cure: medicine in the 19th Century
What were you most likely to die from or did you in spite of some of the remedies get better and live to tell the tale? What was it like to be in hospital, how long were you there for, how well did you get treated and what were some of the other patients like? What were the pros and cons of vaccination? How did you qualify as a doctor, nurse or midwife? What was it like having an operation? What was dentistry like? What were some of the strange cures, strange sounding ailments and odd causes of death cited in the 19th century.
