Red Cross is celebrating 100 years in Australia in
2014. In recognition of this milestone, they are collecting the
personal stories of people helping people over the past century, in preparation
for a dedicated website to be launched next year.
Australian Red Cross began as the Australian Branch of the
British Red Cross Society on 13 August 1914, nine days after the outbreak of
World War I. It was formed by Lady Helen Munro-Ferguson, the wife of the
Governor-General, who called on the wives of the State governors to form State
committees.
