Family History Fest

Family History Fest program is about to recommence for 2012 at Diamond Valley Library. This regular program for family history researchers will run monthly on the last Wednesday of the month (except for school and public holidays).

The program aims to provide a series of information sessions on topics of interest for the beginning family history researcher. They will usually be delivered by the Local and Family History Librarian or a local specialist.
2012 will kick off on Wednesday February 29 with
Births, Deaths, Marriages

Ready to confirm all those family stories you have gathered over the summer holidays? This introduction to the Victorian historical indexes will help you get started with your family history research.

Following sessions will include
March 28 Ireland Emigration Schemes
Join Beryl O’Gorman from the Irish Ancestry group of the GSV who will discuss the emigration schemes out of Ireland in the 19th Century.

April 24 WW1 Lighthorsemen

Join military historian Dr David Holloway as he discusses his recently published book, "Endure and Fight", a detailed history of the 4th Light Horse Regiment of World War One. Dr Holloway will also provide tips on how you can research your ancestor who enlisted in World War One. Books available for purchase.
