Documents Online

A new genealogy database is now available for family history researchers at Yarra Plenty Regional Library. Of particular interest if you have British ancestry, but also if you love history in general.

Documents Online comes from the official public archives of the UK government – The National Archives. It contains over 1000 years of history with over 2.3 million downloaded records in 2010-11. It includes digital images of wills (probate records), Army, Navy and Air Force records, Cabinet Records, pictures, photographs and historical documents from the Public Record Office and more.

Documents Online can be accessed via the tab "Research - Genealogy - E-resources" along with other genealogy databases. Currently it can only be accessed in the library only.

Researchers are encouraged to save their search results on their portable USB drives. These will usually be in the form of a PDF or JPG image - for easy transfer to home computers.
