New South Wales Passenger lists at Ancestry

Following a very successful "Introduction to the Ancestry Database" session at Diamond Valley library recently I learn that Ancestry has increased its Australian content with some passenger lists this time.

About New South Wales, Australia, Assisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1828-1896
This database contains a collection of assisted immigrant passenger lists to New South Wales, Australia for various years between 1828 and 1896. “Assisted immigrants” are individuals whose passages were either subsidized or paid for by another person or through another agency. This collection is comprised of four different series of records. Information listed on these records may include: name of immigrant, age, marital status, gender, and native place.

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922This database contains a collection of unassisted immigrant passenger lists to New South Wales, Australia for various years between 1826 and 1922. Information contained in the records may include information about the ship and names of passengers.

These are indexes only. To see the original records GSV have all Assisted Passengers, and Unassisted Passengers 1826- Feb1884, on microfilm. State Library Victoria also has some of the films.

Ancestry is available via Yarra Plenty Regional Library at every computer at every library branch.
