National Family History Week


National Family History Week kicks off at Yarra Plenty Regional Library next week and we have decided to extend events till the end of the month.

By 2001 Victoria had the largest Maltese community in Australia, many settling in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Cemeteries and your family history


Cemeteries are a great resource to assist in your family history research. Visiting the final resting place of your ancestor can reveal information that you may not already know inluding for example, names of other family members.

Yarra Plenty Regional Library is pleased to host cemetery historian and Past President of the Genealogical Society of Victoria Mr David Weatherwill to speak more about how cemeteries can help us with our family history research, as part of the Family History Fest monthly program at Diamond Valley Library.

Memories of moon landing


It is almost 40 years since Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. Have you recorded your memories of this famous event in your own life story?

Barnardos Research Service


Children's charity Barnardos has recently launched a research service offering people the chance to access records of the thousands of children cared for by the organisation since the early 1870s. This may include child migrants to Australia. For more information visit Barnardo's Family History Service
